Maxi Time

The maxi trend is a favorite of mine, but is not one which is easily pulled-off. Being five foot two, most maxi’s drag the ground unless I wear some Courtney Stodden heels for the insane. As I prefer my ankles unbroken and the bottom of my dresses clean, I have to be very selective in the maxi’s I buy. I have had most luck at places like Marshall’s, but every once in a while a shorter maxi will cycle into Dottie’s inventory, and I will buy every color option available. This mermaid style maxi skirt only came in grey, but I am very glad to have it!
I paired it with my baby pink seamless tank from Target that I’ve had since seventh grade…not mad at it! It was a pain to keep tucked into my skirt but was worth it as I thought it complemented the grey nicely!

My pink ribbon has made it’s way to another blog but honestly this is fitting, as it is a staple in my wardrobe in any season!
I couldn’t be bothered to wash my hair the night before, so I went to the perfect look for second day curls! I started at my side part, Dutch braided my bangs first and then incorporated the rest of  my hair. I wrapped a piece of hair around the ponytail holder and then secured with a few bobbi pins for a more pulled-together look.

I didn’t pancake my braid nearly as much as I usually like to for this
look because I wanted it to be less messy and more reserved…but I let my whispies fly because what good are they trapped into a ponytail?

My cream cardi is another old gem from Target! It is the lightest cream color and can be paired with
so many different outfits! This one looks nice with dresses as well as it is longer on the sides than the back.

My earrings were a gift from Evan from Express, and they’re my new favorite! I usually prefer my diamond studs but I like these earrings as a statement piece that is still classic, neutral, and elegant.

I kept my eye makeup neutral (Naked palettes as per usual), and my lipstick as well for this look! I used MAC “Velvet Teddy” lipstick under my light pink Smashbox lip gloss (not sure which shade…but I do know its’s the lightest one!)
Under my skirt are black sandals, they are sure to make an appearance soon!

Love,
Ashley

  1. I’m the same way with maxi skirts because I am 5’2″ as well! What size is your skirt, I’m thinking of placing a dottie order today. 🙂
    Happy Shopping!
